Featured Album: Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - My Chemical Romance

Now, we know that we're supposed to be super-cool and only love bands that haven't made it big, but we're also paid (wait, actually... oh, we've been told it's just a phrase) to be unexpected. We're not ashamed to admit our love for My Chemical Romance, or the brilliance that is their newest album - but we know it's not to everyone's taste. To that, we'd ask what band or artist is?

We digress.

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys has been jammed - literally - in the Tantrum CD player to give it the retro feel it inexplicably has. Overseen by Dr Death-Defying, it sees the Killjoys doing what they're asked to in opening track Look Out Sunshine; make some noise.

A 14 track riot ensues, latest single Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) kicking off the musical side of things - and there has been no better opener to an album in as we can remember.

In an album full of anthems, tracks of note include Planetary (Go!), Destroya, and bonus track Vampire Money. That said, a recent birthday has put us in mind to adopt The Kids From Yesterday as our anthem - a song that will resonate with anyone over the age of 18, and chanted by those who can see it in their future.

Long awaited by the legions of devoted fans, put simply Danger Days is a triumph. Pull on your neon coloured leather gloves, dig the water pistol out of the drawer, and be fucking fabulous - then maybe you can be a Killjoy too. Frankly, there's nothing we'd like more.

Little Fille, big impact.

So, as the weather-lady has been saying Winter is officially here. You've dug out your super-warm coat, found some cute mittens and a scarf that doesn't match anything and you're writing down (and underlining) HAT on your winter shopping list because for some reason, you manage to lose your hat every.single.year. Or is that just us?

Well this year, We think we're gonna ditch the ol' knitted hat look because wearing a hat would mean NOT wearing this seasons coolest staple - the headband.

But us Tantrum girls won't be rocking your average headband, nope!  We only wear  the most gorgeous headbands ever and they just so happen to go by the name of Little Fille.
London-based Little Fille individually hand-make each versatile headpiece they sell, from the cute velvet bows to the super-warm earmuffs so you know every single headband is completely unique and there's no way you'll be stepping out in the same £15 Accessorize piece as your next door neighbors nan (Believe us, it's happened before...)

And did we forget to mention, not only are their super-cute pieces available online, but they're also stocked exclusively in Topshop's flagship Oxford Circus store!
We think they're pretty much better than all the wintery headbands you'll see popping up all over the high street, but if you don't believe us, you can take a look for yourselves...

They're the perfect accessory for every winter outfit, annnnd (boys, take note!) they're brilliant christmas gifts.
Let's just say, we would be far from disappointed if a bunch of Little Fille headbands were wrapped up and waiting under our Christmas tree...

She's got the Lookz

There’s an age old dilemma that girls face every day: you’re going out somewhere glitzy after spending all day in a working environment, and while you’re thinking, yes yes yes, your face is saying ‘Hey girl, I’m only made up for day wear’. You’ve got a bag full of make up, but have no idea what to do with it, or how to do it.

Your worries are over, for our old Tantrum favourite, Barry M, has come up with the solution we’ve all been waiting for!

Lookz, is a free application for Blackberry, Iphone and Android phones. It showcases all the hottest looks on the Barry M website, and provides tutorials on how to achieve them. It’s updated regularly, and allows girls on the go to create the looks they want for whatever occasion!

And if you’re thinking, ‘Boo, I don’t have a smartphone’, their website also has regularly updated tutorials.

So if you’re partying after a hard days work and don’t know what to do, just reach for your phone and relax. Barry M; making party season as glam and easy as possible.

'I Wonder' by Marian Bantjes

We've said it before and we'll say it again, we love pretty books. Books so beautiful that you really dread leaving your mucky little fingerprints all over them. So imagine our total joy when a copy of 'I Wonder' by Marian Bantjes landed on the paint-splattered desks at Tantrum.
On first impression the book looks, well, magical. Like it belongs on a shelf way up high in some super-old secret library. Like it contains all sorts of special charms and spells. Like opening it will transport you to a completely different dimension. And upon opening, it sure doesn't dissapoint.

'I Wonder' lets you have a sneak peek into the imagination of Marian Bantjes, the Canadian typographic illustrator and graphic designer extraordinaire. Each of the gilt-edged 208 pages is enchantingly filled with a combination of graphic art, illustration, quirky street signage, pasta-art and unconventional musings and anecdotes from the mind of Bantjes herself.

'I Wonder' is one of those books that just can't be done justice in an online review. It's something you need to hold and experience for yourself. And we promise you'll be just as spellbound as us by this stunning, one-of-a-kind book which is a work of art in itself.

We tried to take our own pics but the book kept closing and we didn't want to wreck the pages...

Remember, remember, album release of November?

Now that the circled date on our calenders (or, more realistically, the notification on our mobiles) has passed, we're left with the sense that something wonderful has happened - we have an album that will make us forget the horrors of winter (and insufficient heating) and give us the musical lift we need.

The Constant, the much anticipated debut album by I Blame Coco, is a rare breed - music which sounds just as right in a late night club as it does powering to university (or work, or school... wherever you take your ipod really) on a cold morning.

The only problem we found about this album were picking out our favourite tracks! Personally, I adore Only Love Can Break Your Heart, and new single In Spirit Golden... although, in saying that, no playlist could ever be complete without Please Rewind.

This album is a beautiful mix of powerful vocal and synth-pop which we promise will have you singing along like you're an X Factor auditionee on their very last chance.

Boys Day.

Let's get straight to the point, this post consists of our fave male models of the moment. We're not gonna drawl it out with big words and anecdotes that only we find funny, we're just gonna whack up some delicious pictures of delicious-er boys we would most definately NOT kick outta bed. Like, ever.

We're merely girls after all, powerless against their perfect bone structure, tattoo-covered bodies and general 'fuck 'em all' bad boy attitude, so here goes...drool away, you can thank us later.

Cole Mohr

Killer cheekbones - Check. Piercing blue eyes - Check. Tattoos & bad boy 'tude - Check, Check. Cole, you ultimate babe, get your beautiful face down to Tantrum HQ. Now.

Ash Stymest

Gorgeous hair - Check, Gorgeous face - Check, Numerous tattoos and skating injuries? Check, Check. Drummer with his own show on MTV? Total Bonus. Oh Ash, you make our hearts jump like we're on cocaine.

Josh Beech

Hot body? Chchcheck, Covered in tats? Check, 'Don't fuck with me' stare? Check. Musician? CHECK. Josh Beech, you can come throw a tantrum with us anytime. Preferably when you're topless though...

Conclusion - We like boys. We seem to like 'em more when they're shirtless and have multiple tattoos and possibly a cigarette or two hanging out of their mouths.
Why? Well, just look at the stunning male specimens we've provided you with! We're not quite sure exactly what it is that makes them so irresistable, but what we are sure about is that we're not alone in thinking they're, well, totally GOR.GEOUS.
Which is kind of a shame 'cause we could probably do without all the extra competition...
